"Cat Nap"

This little girl reminds us how natural it is for children to want to get as close as they can to something they love, whether it's their mother's lap, a favorite toy or a beloved pet such as the cat beside this girl. Her loving arm encircles the cat; its soft paws hug her arm. Zolan fills the art with tender touches: the delicate coloring of the flowered sheets, the scalloped edging on the pillow case, the cat's white whiskers brushing against her arm, her soft skin and hair and the cat's soft fur. They all help suggest the tenderness and caring between the two. When nap time rolled around, she probably gathered up her kitty in her arms and carried it off to her bed. The picture is filled with feelings of warmth, love, closeness, trust, peace and contentment. The girl and the cat are wrapped in each others arms and off in the land of dreams. Hers may be of merry-go-rounds and cotton candy. The cat may be dreaming of fat little field mice. We can see all the innocence of childhood in the girl's sleeping face.
